Audio for openplotter on a rpi3

I have been running my nav system using openplotter on a rasp pi3...ais thru vesper, everything talks to my raymarine instrument backbone, and use a tablet via lan at the helm as necessary. All is well...very happy.

I discovered the wefax plugin on OP. Got it enabled. But I cannot get the ssb to talk to the pi.. I am using a 3.5mm cable from the headphone jack on the ssb to a usb plugnplay USB adapter on the pi... got it on the right channel at the right time. I receive noaa voice fine.

The wefax plugin says it cannot connect... no idea on how to test sound function in the pi, never used it before...

Is this an issue with OP? The pi? The ssb?

Did you try to ask the question at the OpenPlotter forum?
The probability that somebody knows the answer directly is just higher ...
