Are S63 charts and permits transferable ?

Ive recently transfered my OCPN installation over to a Rpi.
Can my S63 charts/permits be migrated or do I have to start again ?
Thanks
Steve

Steve..

You will need to generate the corresponding InstallPermit for the RasPi and then install the cell permit and cells on it.

There is no way "just to copy" the eSENC, needs the install process always.

And be aware the "Install media", i.e. the Root_enc directory you are installing from, has to be and stay on the target machine.
One can't for example take the install media on an USB stick, install and plug the stick out - No, No!
So the best in the case of the RasPi or similar devices is to create a chart directory on a SD card, which stays on the RasPi (if you have not already such a directory for the rest of charts..)

We have reports from others running S-63 without problems on RasPis 2 & 3.

Do I understand correctly. I have to purchase a new install permit for my new machine (Rpi) from o-charts.
Then use my existing user permit to download my cells again from chartworld onto the Rpi.
thanks Steve

Re: Are S63 charts and permits transferable ?

Steve,

nothing to purchase - just generate an InstallPermit for the RasPi same as you did for the first install. Remember: An InstallPermit links an S-63 UserPermit encrypted chart set to a specific machine.

In the last days there is a problem with the generation of InstallPermits due to some changes the service provider of the shop (not o-charts) has installed.
When you upload a fingerprint file, an empty InstallPermit is generated.
We will create the correct one then manually and send it to you by mail.

Hubert
Thanks for your help.
Ive succesfully migrated my charts from my PC to my RPi
I got a number of warnings that the charts had expired but I did finally manage to do it.
Best Wishes
Steve
