Antartica is not any ordinary place under some state juridiction. It 'belongs' to all of us, and the UN have edicted stringent regulations in order to keep the least spoiled continent this way as far as possible.
Before giving pointers, I wanted to make reasonably sure that I wouln't not help someone break these laws or regulations.
To take an extreme case, if there is a forum on chemistry, I sure hope specialists do not rush to answer a vague question about the stability of TATP

Re: Antarctic Charts

Some pointers to nautical charts of Antarctica
1 - Sailing to Antarctica most usually means crossing the Drake Passage and landing on the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula (Graham Land).
Chile's Armada (SHOA) is responsible for charting this area.
As far as I know, Chile is not licencing RASTER charts to commercial companies.
However VECTOR charts based on those charts are readily available:
* 'free' CM93 V2 (July 2012) on Opencpn have a quite decent coverage, good at least for planning purposes
* The larger scale ENC coverage is shown in the first pic, and those charts can be displayed on O. using the S63 plugin. They are not cheap, but a few hundred $ will buy them.
* Apart from Opencpn, a CMap package exists as mentionned above, but it is geared towards chartplotters (e.g. it is not available on tablets). There is no Navionics coverage.
* IMHO, the best move is to get hold of an Ipad, and download the superb Antarctica package for iSailor (Transas charts) for the huge amount of ... 25 € (about 30 $). As far as I can tell, the coverage of the whole continent is complete (see pics)

2 - In a next post, I'll try to cover raster and vector charts for the rest of the continent

You have a point but better IMHO to answer the question and give your other thoughts in a side note..

Re: Antarctic Charts

2 - Here are pointers to raster and vector charts for Antarctica outside the Peninsula, eventhough I doubt whether a single sailboat a year aims at those parts...
Many countries have published charts of the Antarctic coasts (see first pic), including Russia that has no 'claim' on parts of the continent, but large scale ones are mostly restricted to the vicinity of the numerous scientific bases that are (or were) manned since the 50's.

As far as vector charts are concerned, CM93 V2 on OpenCpn do not fare badly, although the Russian charts are sketchy at best. I have not seen the official S63 charts from e.g. Primar or Chartworld (also on OpenCpn, with the plugin) but they should be good value for money
But the cheap Transas charts (iSailor) on ipad is IMHO the best (and most convenient) set available.
It may come as a surprise that many RASTER charts are available:
Nobody has yet mentioned that LINZ (kiwi hydro service) offers free kap charts viewable on Opencpn for the area devoted to them. The single Brazilian kap chart (DHN) has already be mentioned by Pavel (Nohal).
But the vast majority are available on Ipad in Weather4D 2.0, a former grib viewer turned into a complete nav app. These charts are provided by the French venture Geogarage, that offers the full complement of Australian (AHS), UK (UKHO) and French (SHOM) raster charts (as well as LINZ)
see https://www.geogarage.com/fr_FR/page/catalog for the coverage and pic: UKHO is blue and note the coverage of the Peninsula).
It is an obvious drawback that you have to buy the entire country packages (about 50 € each) to access the few antarctic charts.
This price tag is for a yearly subscription, and the download cache of the app is limited to 1 GB (which should be large enough)
Here are a few examples of large scale raster charts (courtesy of Geogarage for my beta testing)

Finally, I make no claim at completeness. This is what I am aware of at this moment

Re: Antarctic Charts

I expect Filipe already has the paper charts from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and the UKHO. The best electronic charts seem to be C-Map.. the pirate versions on the net are woefully out of date, for everywhere actually, and lacking in detail. Get a paid set.

All of the charts of Antarctica are lacking in detail at the levels required for the anchorages that yachts use... Filipe ask around in Puerto Williams and people may share but don't expect them to give you their information just like that some people prefer to keep their information closely guarded.
