Annoying, re-occuring, AIS Alarms

We set OpenCPN to "Play Sound" on AIS Alerts. On those long night watches AIS and OpenCPN tells us when a target is going to be too close, etc.

The problem is that the alarm sounds repeatedly and acknowledgement is often difficult because the dialog disappears as soon as either vessel yaws away from a collision course.

So we hear the alarm and run to the chart table but when we get there no alert dialog is on the screen. Moments later the alarm resounds and the dialog pops up, sometimes for only an instant. Very annoying.

What we need is a feature to add the "alarm count" and "acknowledge" to the AIS Target List. Then when an alarm has sounded but has already cleared itself we can open the AIS Target List and see which vessel caused the alarm and acknowledge it, per the other parameters we have set.

In the Attachment the mock up You see a new column on the AIS Target List for Alarm History and the AIS Target query dialog which has an added button for "Acknowlege"

If you don't see anything like what you have suggested, make a new task, however if your idea is an extension of a preexisting request, add your ideas and vote!

Thanks.

Re: Annoying, re-occuring, AIS Alarms

This new request is a repeat of FS#807, not yet implemented. I don't know how to get more votes, however I do notice that a few commenters (Marco, Thomas Rauch, Steve B, and twow other FS requests (2117, 2010) all complain of the same annoying repetitious AIS Alarms and the difficult of acknowledging them.

FS#807 should be easy and would reduce the problem of annoying repeated AIS Alarms that the user cannot cancel.

Re: Annoying, re-occuring, AIS Alarms

Thanks, There must be at least 7 votes to make it to the Vetted Feature Request List.
https://opencpn.org/flyspray/index.p...otes&sort=desc

You are limited to 2 or 3 votes per day I believe

FS 807

Just 4 votes. Has not made it to the Vetted List. You'd best vote if you would find it useful. Make any related ideas/comments in tracker on that item.
