Does anyone know if the Android OpenCPN paid version from Dave supports charts on an SDcard rather than the device internal memory?

(I tried signing up on Dave's support form, but it thought I was a bot! )

OpenCPN for Android supports installing charts on SDCard or internal storage, user's choice.

What user name did you use for registration on the Forum? We can check the logs...

Thanks - will be loading up my tablet shortly as I'm getting things ready for our next trip, leaving next summer. You actually saw us when we were last out ! ( I remember motoring circles around you in Norfolk in ~spring 2009)

Hi. As far as the paid OpenCPN are there any youtube video reviews available. I'd like to see how good it is with pinch-to-zoom etc on a commercial tablet. I currently have it on my linux laptop and it's great but I would like to find out how it's been improved on the commercial version.

From my findings its not improved rather limited as many pi's are not supported and the limited screen realestate causes usability issues.
So dont expect "improvements" - just a version working under Android without the installation hassle. ini.file tweeks can be done but are cumbersom.

You can find vdr, debugger, pypilot, chartscale and projections on the app store already as opencpn plugins free. Try it out.

I broke the touch screen on my tablet (water?) so I plugged a mouse which is ok.. but doesn't allow me to fully test things.

I have climatology, watchdog, celestial, plots, statusbar, objsearch, all working,

halfway weatherfax working as of today, seriously stupid tedious to fix problems.

I did not try weather routing or draw plugin yet because these are the most difficult.

I did not write the draw plugin, not sure if I should make an android port.

Since it's impossible to use raspberry pi to develop android (yes they require x86 processor to develop for arm processor) I have to use a less efficient x86 machine. My batteries (9 years old) are so bad they dropped to 11.3 volts today I had to stop working, even when I aimed all my solar panels too many clouds.
