Anchor alarm & Watch dog plug in issue

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up the anchor watch by following the instructions on the Open CPN manual, but it doesn't seem to be working properly.

Once I set anchor watch on a POI and made sure that the boat is within the range (e.g. 50m from the POI), the alarm goes off as if the boat was outside the range...

Something similar happens when I try to use the Watch dog plug in.

I further need to specify that I'm currently working from home and that the vessel position is moved by the user with the software functionality.

Could you please help me out on this topic?

Did anyone else experience the same problem?

Thanks in advance!!!

Fabio

Re: Anchor alarm & Watch dog plug in issue

This snippet from the manual may have the answer: "In the “Edit Alarm” window, the latitude and longitude (Lat and Lon) of your ship will be shown (or to be precise: the Lat and Lon of the “your ship” cursor, so make sure you have a GPS fix!)."

If you are working from home and moving the boat position artificially you don't have GPS data coming in with the boat's position.

Hi Fabio,

In the present version of Watchdog there is a checkbox "Alarm if no data". If that box is checked but you move the boat "manually" (there is no actual GPS-data), the alarm will be triggered, even when you are still withing the 50 meter radius.

The "Alarm if no data-checkbox was not present in Watchdog when I wrote that part of the manual a couple of years ago. Maybe this corona-**** will give me time to update it.

I have just tried it with Ship Driver and everything works OK here. See the enclosed screenshots.

Best regards,
Roel
