AIS to OpenCPN

Dear forum members.

I am completely new to the Raspberry Pi and OpenCPN matter.
I have the combo operating system and OpenCPN installed on the card and the Raspberry gives no problems with it. I also have OpenCPN running with maps.
Installing the GPS receiver was a little tricky but eventually worked out.
I am currently trying to connect an old Comar CBS 200 AIS tranceiver to the Raspberry Pi but I have no idea where to make which settings.
I already have an adapter cable from the 9-pin serial plug to USB but in OpenCPN, in the "Connections" screen, I see no chance to connect to the AIS.
Could someone explain to me in an email step by step how to get the information from the AIS available in OpenCPN in the Raspberry and/or OpenCPN settings?
In other words how do I link the Comar to OpenCPN, preferably including the GPS information.
It has always worked fine in WinGPS on a PC but I can't get it to work in OpenCPN.
And then please no fuss about galvanic isolation and Optocouplers.
Please make me happy.

Re: AIS to OpenCPN

Exactly the same as you set up the GPS: Open the Toolbox, go to the Connections tab, set up the connection.
You may refer to the manual at https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...ns:connections
If some particular step is not clear, please specify the step where you got stuck.

Re: AIS to OpenCPN

Ok, so far so good but I was searching for the right com port. Could not find it but I understood that Raspberry Pi has a built in multiplexer. Will try again. Thank’s for your prompt reply.

Plus check the baud rate once you find the correct COM port. AIS sends usually at 38400.

Re: AIS to OpenCPN

Not directly related to AIS but no less important.
I can no longer connect to WiFi networks with my Raspberry Py. I need the Autopilot's WiFi network to control the Raymarine EV-1 autopilot from OpenCPN. In the past, I could log on to the available WiFi networks.

Re: AIS to OpenCPN

Still not possible to connect with any WiFi on my Raspberry Pi4 although I see them in de list of available connections. I am sure about the password because I can connect with them on my iPhone. What’s going on or better, what’s NOT going on.
I need a WiFi connection with the gateway of my autopilot.
