AIS targets not visible

I cannot see the AIS targets and I am wondering whether there might be any suggestions.

I have installed version 4.6.1, I am running a Raymarine network and using an Weatherdock EasyAIS A155 easyTRX2S-IS-IGPS-N2K connected via NMEA2000 to the Raymarine network, a vYacht Wifi router is also connected via NMEA 2000 (only white and blue wire, no shield). The PC is hooked up to the vYacht router via WLAN.

I can receive wind and boat data, the NMEA log does not show / receive any !AIVDM ....sentences.

The Raymarine plotter receives the AIS targets fine with all data and the Wheatherdock sees them as well.

Are there any known issues with this configuration? Have I missed anything obvious?

Re: AIS targets not visible

Sorry, but you must be more specific about your connections they do not happen automatically, how you have set up OpenCPN connections to receive the data? Hardware and Software answer please. Please review the Options>Setup Manual files, follow https://opencpn.org/

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...pn_user_manual

to "Connections" and read please.

When you have provided enough information about your physical and software settings we can help.

Re: AIS targets not visible

I can send them tomorrow evening, once I got the full system running (now I can only get to pc and router via Teamviewer), I had a look at them before but did not see any any !AIVDM ....sentences, nothing had been filtered out.

Re: AIS targets not visible

Has anybody got an idea in the meantime?

My suspicion is that he vYacht router is somehow faulty, in a German forum I could find similar incidences being reported. And it seems also quite a common scheme that vYacht themself does not reply back to support queries. Have there been similar experiences in this foum?

Re: AIS targets not visible

I have the same issue.

Bernd at vYacht was quick to respond to my initial reply. I have updated the firmware. Have also run his test page and sent him a log per his request - you can see this at 192.168.10.1/test.html

Waiting on his assessment.
My entire network is N2k
My AIS receiver is an Icom M506.
Using the vyacht to provide data to IOS devices running iNavx, iSailor. All data except AIS is displayed to these devices.
AIS targets are displayed on the wired network on the M506 itself, but also the raymarine i70 display, so I know the data is there.

In my logging of sentences hitting the vYacht, I have only been able to see one AIS related item:

Very interested in any discussion and resolution of this one! Thanks.

Re: AIS targets not visible

I have exactly the same issue - in my case with IOS devices. Any luck so far?

Re: AIS targets not visible

OK, a little more on this.
I updated my vyacht firmware to the latest version, and now I do get AIS targets indicated on both my wired network (as before) and wireless, IOS devices. (finally!) It takes some patience, the targets do not appear right away, even though they are visible on the wired network. So, things are looking up.
BUT
The wireless devices are not receiving the same amount or the same quality of AIS data. Not all targets visible on the wired network are displayed on the wireless devices, and they are somewhat intermittent vs the wired network.
So, better, but not there yet.
What could be happening?

Re: AIS targets not visible

I could trace my problems back to the yacht router. I had been in discussion with Bernd from vyacht and he admitted that there might be some issues with too much data traffic and this causes conflict with the AIS data and some other instabilities.

He then made new firmware in which the the NMEA output can be turned off, this helps a little bit but does not completely resolve the issue. Hopefully this can be fixed with the next firmware.
