AIS Position Reporting by Satellite

Siitech of Vancouver has made a generous offer to the users of OpenCPN.

For any boat capable of sending email position reports over the internet, they will free of charge display the vessel details in their world-wide AIS network.

This can also be very useful for regattas where cheap and short range position reporting devices can relay all the position reports to a central, internet connected station/boat for transmission to the Siitech network. Also free of charge.

Any ARPA enabled boat can also be displayed in this manner.

Let me know if this is of interest to anyone.

Absolutely, for many of the members I'm sure.
