Sorry, I should have been more clear
I have not used this program yet as I am not on the boat
presently but will be in a few weeks.
The plan is to use a separate device/screen for AIS
display. I find overlaying AIS on the plotter gets it too
crowded.
I found AIS Radar because I like the clarity
of a simple display similar to the
Vesper “Watchmate” and the
DigitalYacht “iAIS”
When I’m looking at AIS data, I don’t really want to
filter away info in my brain.
I’ll report back to this thread when I’ve
had a chance to use it.
In regards to the OP, when i’m
offshore I have a tendency
to turn the plotter off. I’m a big fan of dedicated
single function displays and usually just have the
wind instrument on. However it’s nice to know that you’re not on a
collision course with the big mother that just appeared on the horizon.
Some MFD get so crowded
it hurts my eyes.
A lifetime ago when
learning how to fly
we did an instrument scan looking at the pointers
(Analog) One could tell by looking at the
gauges 10,10,12,12, o’clock everything is OK
Interested in other opinions????
Cheers
Neil
