AIS and ARPA target colour

Hi,

I'm working on a project that deals with creating route suggestions based on the environment. So far we have been able to use OpenCPN for displaying information.

Is it possible to change the colour or even the icon for the AIS and ARPA targets? I find it can be difficult to see the when an ARPA and AIS icon are on top of each other, since they are the same shade of green. I'm aware that OpenCPN is not an ECDIS, but I see it is possible to change the icon of own ship, so maybe it is also possible for other targets?

For our project we have to follow the IMO guidelines that can be seen here:
https://iho.int/uploads/user/About%2...reviations.pdf

The guidelines also state that the speed vector should be represented by a dashed line. Is it also possible to change this in the settings? At the moment it is represented by a solid green line with a circle at the end.

Thank you for your time.

Re: AIS and ARPA target colour

It's not possible to make the changes you ask for with settings in OpenCPN.
But.. it's free software so just fork the code and do your own changes to suit your project, provided you're handy with c++ code.

Okay, that's a shame. I will try to look into the source code.

Do you happen to know where this symbol is set? Is it an image or is it just drawn as a triangle/circle by the code?

Thank you.

Re: AIS and ARPA target colour

I have attached a screendump. It shows the Radar tracks that are received as TTM messages. What I would like to change is the appearance of the Radar tracks and their speed vector. For example change the colour of the tracks and make the speed vector a dashed line.

Re: AIS and ARPA target colour

Code in current OpenCPN master branch:

1. Rendering of AIS and ARPA targets:
..source file: ais.cpp
..method: static void AISDrawTarget()
..interesting lines:
render COG line: 1270
set symbol color: 1377

render target (circle): 1373

As always, carefully crafted github PRs are welcome.

Good Luck
