Have fun!!

OK Im with you on this till I get to "select, ""Additional information" What do I right click on? In assuming the waypoint itself, but I see no "Additional Information" tab in the box.

here's what I did.TOok an existing route, added a picture to the start point anchorage and the end route anchorage using the referenced Java tool. Exported the route from the tool, imported it into opencepn, zoomed to it with the route manager but the photos do not appear even thought the xml file is correct.

So was wondering where I goofed up?

BEst regards

sailias..

To display a photo directly in an OCPN waypoint,it is better to use GPSPrune.

Quote:
I created the waypoints firstly in OpenCPN exported them as a gpx then opened it in gps prune.then connected the photo to the waypoints then exported the gpx file to open again in OpenCPN.I also saved waypoints as a kmz file but ensured I had the save thumbnails selected or the photos will not appear in GE. As the app is open source it could form the basis of a plugin to add. Additional information to waypoints But it's written in Java. regards Richard

If you right click on the waypoint should display the item additional information as part of the list. Selecting this will open the additional information dialog box if you are still having problems copy and paste your gpx file here and I will look and and test

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

OK I think I got it. You have to create a dedicated waypoint for this to work. If I do, all is fine. If I use a waypoint from a plotted route, it does not seem to bring up the needed option Additional Information? Poir qua?

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Looks like prune needs to name the wayponts in your route
Open your sample gpx in prune
Click on one of the points in your route
Cross hairs will appear
From the Point menu select Edit Waypoint Name
At the dialog Enter a name
Click OK
The waypont will appear in the waypoint list
Go to photo/add photos and select photo you want to link
Photos will appear in photos list
Select way point from list
select photo from list
In photos menu select Connect to point
If you click on the waypoint on the map display the photo should display on the right of the prune screen with the status Connected
Export to gpx

hope this works for you

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Glad you fixed The problem could be the way OpenCPN handles waypoints A waypoint in a route does no seem able to be used as a standalone waypoint and route waypoints do not appear in the way point list In addition I don't think you acan use existing waypoints to create a route.
I strongly advise all to use the picasa photo viewer to display the additional photos. Let picasa organise you photos. Don't worry it does not move any files
When you display an addition photo from a way point picasa displays it in a frameless window. If you click on the display you can scroll to additional photos that are in the same folder as your linked photo. In effect you can display any number of photos for a waypoint

I am asking GPS prune developers to extend the capabilities to include running a video file from a waypoint or opening a program Any other ideas

regards

Richard

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Here is OpenCPN running a program from a waypoint I use calc as an example but could be any program Local weather for example or a grib download site.

Here is Open CPN running a video from a waypoint I have used the example of when aliens attacked my local marina but the video could be a recording of a tricky channel approach or how to moor stern to in the Med. Always an exciting process

If you are really good I will tell you how

regards

Richard

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Adding/editing to the originally created, named waypoint can produce the following results. Don't know what happens when the window is full of links, will it scroll down?

Here is a special 'info.xpm' icon for use with 'Additional information'
Add it to your other OCPN UserIcons.

4shared folder - UserIcons

I'm going to need a dual monitor display and there really won't be anytime to look out the windows if you keep this up!

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Man,this GPX stuff is supposed to be "generic",right? But be aware that these waypoints don't work in Mapsource as a "for instance".Don't tamper with originals...
