64bit raspberry

Hi guys
I'm looking at having a go at building an openplotter set up with a raspberry pi 4 , is it an advantage to go with the 64 bit version that's due out or should I stick with the 32 bit version

Long term sure. Do you have to right now? No.

I'am running here the RaspiOS 64 based on Debian Bullseye.

OpenCPN 5.6 in the Flatpak version.

Then i have added the OpenPlotter extra's form the website. Advanced version.

You have to install dependencies first as stated on the server. I can give you these, if needed.

Then install the advanced download with dpkg.

Only SignalK I have installed by hand not via the OpenPlotter item. For the VLC server you have to switch it on.

So everthing is working here. The Wifi Access point etc. etc.

If you are looking to build a stable system you can try BBN OS.
It’s based on Buster. Kernel is 64-bit.
User space is armhf. OpenCPN is 5.2.4.

Bullseye or any arm64 based system
would still be immature and lacking some features and plugins at this point.

OpenCPN 5.6.0 still missing some plugins. And has some bugs targeted for 5.6.2.

If you haven’t tried loading BBN OS I think you should at least try. It’s also completely free and open source.

Getting started guide is here:
