5.6 ais target heading issue

Running openplotter on rpi4… just upgraded from open on 5.2.4 to 5.6..

In doing so, any ais target icon with a null heading is defaulting to 000, instead of COG…thus targets moving EAST with no heading are pointing NORTH…under 5.2 they were pointing to the COG…

How do I get these to default to 5.2 approach?

An issue with 5.6? Some setting?? Something else?

Thanks in advance
John

John
Neither on Win nor RPi I don't see that. See my shot from a RPi4. No heading but the ship symbol is pointing to COG.
I the case no speed of the ship the symbol would though point north since no speed also implies no COG.

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Not on the boat to test myself today, but I see the OP doesn't have the leading line feature turned on for AIS targets and Hakan does. Any chance that makes a difference in how the icon is processed?

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

The course predictor would have no impact on this.
John..
Looks really strange. What is the difference to the class B target south for the actual target where the ship icon seems to point to COG?

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Any target pointing the right direction has a non-null heading… anything with a null heading (and a non null cog) defaults the icon heading to 000

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

But the class B target southwards couldn't have a heading. It's not included in the class B messages.

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Furthermore…
Class does not seem to matter, nor boat speed. Btw my course predictor is checked but rarely works…also the only way I can get target tracks is by clicking the record option within the target query box… the show target track does nothing…

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Some class B boats do have a heading…maybe 20-25%.

This all changed going from 5.2 to 5.6…was fine on openplotter using cpn5.2….

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Could this be an openplotter issue?? A Linux issue??

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

After three reinstalls, and several hours of playing with the options/ships/ais switches the target icons corrected themselves...there is a gremlin in there, but i can no longer replicate it...

Possibly there were too many anchored boats, at least for the initial boot up. Cuz its fine now....

Thanks to all for a great nav system .

Cheers
John

Re: 5.6 ais target heading issue

Gremlins are there to strengthen our character. If it happens again please come back. Possible with a VDR recording?.

Thanks for the report.
