Thanks to Jedi for the marketing materials. Anything with silicone for this application makes me nervous due to the negative aspects of silicone as to future removal/reapplication/whatever-later, so I'd love to get a techie on the phone and press the matter...
I had a nice chat with a rep who called me today. Boat Life Caulk will work; best if you use their cleaners and a primer, too, though. He claimed that if I liked 101 I'd love theirs, as it's like it but better in formulation.

I still think I'm going to use the TDS...

But not good for wood, and definitely not good that it's silicone and will ruin the joint forever if it has to be removed; if it doesn't seal the first time, nothing else will stick to it, etc...

But it's entirely stable in the sun based on our use. Wish the same were true of the 4000UV as it's supposed to be (along with all the failure mechanisms not supposed to happen, either)...
there are various ways to remove silicone from surfaces, including wood so you can reapply something else.

Would be very interested to learn how. The ports in my boat came bedded in some variety of silicone. When I replaced them I tried various solvents and a couple of cleaners specifically marketed to remove silicone. All failed and I ended up sanding down the fiberglass around the ports until I got past the silicone oil soaked layer.
