And available without a prescription in the US. The OTC preps that I am aware of are all 25 mg, so you can take two. I am not aware of a diphenhydramine/caffeine combination drug in the US. But it is easy enough to get over the counter caffeine. Most OTC caffeine is higher dosing - NoDoz is 200 mg. I think there are some others that are as low as 75 mg. Not to mention that an average cup of coffee is 95mg of caffeine. Average black tea is about 50 mg and I think it fair to say that tea is more settling to the stomach than coffee.
I am not sure with this combination drug the degree to which caffeine is therapeutic for motion sickness vs. the caffeine is used to counteract the sedative effect of the diphenhydramine. I suspect it is the latter. Note that one of the major uses for over the counter diphenhydramine is insomnia - so you can be pretty confident it makes you sleepy.
Interestingly, most sources I find recommend avoiding caffeine to minimize sea sickness, but TBH, I don't know how valid that is. Could be a good enough reason to not go for the 200 mg of caffeine in nodoz.

For me caffeine can bring on seasickness or something close to it.

If it's rough in the am and I'm soon to leave my anchorage, I will just have a small bit of coffee and no where near my usual amount of 4-5 cups.

Btw my seasickness Med is Dramamine.

1/2 tablet on day one usually gets me through for the whole trip unless it gets really rough then I pop them as needed. Most was 3-4 in a couple hours.

Re: Seasickness, Fear & anxiety

Hello to every one,

To start, apologies for let reply, I did not receive notifications to my email and just checking now and I am amazed by all replies I had from all of you.

Replying to some questions all of you made:
Are you always sailing as a crew? No, sometimes I go with a friend and I am who manages the boat but also always go out in the weather I feel comfortable. Other times are scheduled days with people and if the sea is bad I have to go out.
Would I get sick if I were the captain? depend on the sea state, usually, if I am the captain I'm ok, but still, get seasick if the sea state is not good

I took notes about the Reielfband the FAA and the Cavidilol, my wife is a pharmacist so we will check with diabetes and allergies.

I wish you a fantastic summer to all and a big hi from Spain!!!
