Red light to port is the port side of a vessel which has crossed your course line from stbd to port.

Green light to stbd is the stbd side of a vesssel which has crossed your course line from port to stbd.

Assuming no other lights, they are both sailing (no steaming light) and you are not yet 22.5 degrees abaft the beam of either one (side light, no stern light.)

Reflection off the side of an iceberg?

The shoreside restaraunt reminds we of the night I was towed in by the USCG and during the subsequsnt inspection I noted that their side lights were reversed. They were so grateful for pointing this out that they let me walk despite not having a bell.

If they are flashing, harbour entrance. Once direct approach and once entrance behind a sea wall (if you take the direct route you crash the wall).

Keep also in mind that tonnage systems are swapped around in some areas.
Like US & Caribbean "Red Right Return" , in Europe its "Green Right Return" ...
