Emergency fiberglass repair

Hi all, getting ready to take my new to me Pearson 30 home. I am going through every possible scenario that would require fixing while underway. What would be a good epoxy or repair kit that would cure fast in contact with seawater? Something that can be applied on the inside in case we are taking in water.
Thank you

Re: Emergency fiberglass repair

Traditional materials carried for hull leaks are tapered wood plugs, wax toilet base rings and 2 part expoxies like JB weld or putty types. For larger leaks "fothering" could be applied, an old sail or other canvas placed under the hull and secured on both sides.

Can you expound on the use of wax toilet rings for hull leaks? I'm very intrigued.

Re: Emergency fiberglass repair

I carry two tubs of StayAfloat. Not that different than a toilet ring but much more pliable. Unlike wooden plugs it seals jagged leaks in fiberglass or even hose splits. Long shelf life (unlike epoxy). I bought it at Defender.

Also, never hurts to add another bilge pump. Mount it a few inches higher than your regular pump. Hopefully it never get's wet. No need for an automatic float switch. Should have a 1.5" or 2" hose. Something like the Rule 4000.

Re: Emergency fiberglass repair

Never seen "stay afloat" before, pretty cool. it does appear similar to the toilet rings only a little more malleable. I'd think it would work better, more bulk to start and easier to apply.
