DIY Yard that Allows Steel Boats?
Hello All,
We're looking for a yard that will allow DIY work on a steel boat - definitely painting, possibly patching. We're thinking maybe the St. Augustine area but are open to any suggestions in Florida or further up the Eastern seaboard.
Thanks!

I see this is your 1st post. More details please. 35ft or 150ft? What are you going to patch? Welding, cutting? Draft, beam?

As of a two years ago, Oasis boat yard in St Augustine still allowed DIY and steel boats.... saw a few there that should have been cut up, but were being "fixed". The owner is a good guy with awesome skills!

43' 13' beam, 6' Draft. Hopefully no welding, cutting, etc., but we haven't had an ultrasound done on the hull yet. It appears to be solid in the 'tell tale' areas - but I like to be prepared with a Plan B...

Possibly Oak Harbor Marina, near Glen Burnie in Maryland. Or Crackerboy, in Riviera Beach, FL.

Have 44' Steel Cutter drafting 6'6" use Cracker Boys Boat Works Ft Pierce. No One better in the Ft P area. Ask for Jeff Jackson he is friend and boat sandblast guy. You can live aboard for $10 a day. Excellent prices!!!!!!!!!!! Just left there Nov 2015 after having rust hole in hull welded.
He can refer you to good welder etc etc Tell him Russ Davignon sent you.

Westland Marina in Titusville on the ICW. Last I checked, $8.00/ft and very fair round trip haul out fee. Easy walking distance to CVS pharmacy and groceries. Small engine repair shop and canvas shop in the marina.
Ask for Rick. He is a great guy.

Does Cracker boy still require you to be out after something like 30 days?

Glades Boat Yard on the Caloosahachee 15 miles west of Clewiston and 30 miles east of Ft.Meyers near LaBelle. very reasonable and will work with you. Downside is that if you need marine parts you need to drive for them, so you must be very very organized.

Not the neatest yard youve ever seen, but very nice people and reasonable. Steel should be no problem.
