Gord and Cowboy,
Just the other day my daughter was complaining that she's getting old as she turns 30 this year.....
Remember when we thought everyone over 30 ought be shot!

Following up on the Hayden quote, I think Bob Seger said it well, "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."

Indeed, he (Seeger) said it well.

... It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago ...
... We were young and strong, we were runnin
Against the wind ...

If I knew then, what I know now - I would have spent the 30k on Lottery Tickets and Horse Races (and now be as rich as Bill Gates). Because I would know all the winning numbers! And, I would have visited all those little places I wanted to visit but foolishly didn't because I spent everything I had on house for ex wives instead of buying the boat then when I could have afforded it.

I was lucky enough to buy a home at a young age of 19(Thanks to my parents whom helped me build my credit), housing market boomed in Atlanta and the value of my home sky rocketed, even with the housing collapse I can still profit $200k.

I thought about buying a nice decent boat and sailing off, or climbing Mt. Everest. As young as I was, I was pretty ambitious and knew what my priorities are. School, education changed my views of the world/people a lot. I dropped out my senior year to run a business and get ahead in life. Kids at my school were graduating and could not find a job (Top 10 engineering schools in the world). It was very demoralizing just to see my friends not able to land a job. One day I will go back just to get the title.

If I had a nice chunk of change, I would not drop everything and go sailing mindlessly. That can come 10 years from now in a nicer boat with my own family. I'm lucky enough to have a gf that is willing to pursue my dreams with me if done in the right steps.
