We have a Zeus3 9" as well. Ours was fine in the higher latitudes, but we're now in
Mexico, where the ambient temp causes the Zeus to get so hot it would shutdown. We'd have to wait for it to cool and then power back up.
I spoke with a local tech who confirmed these do run hot. He recommended we add some way to circulate air in the space behind the unit.
I drilled a hole high up on the backside of our binnacle and added a 2" 12V fan that exhausts air, and is wired to the
chartplotter power circuit so it runs when there is power available to the Zeus. There was another existing hole lower on the binnacle to allow for air to be drawn in.
We haven't been out to confirm if this is enough, but I'm hopeful. We also are conscious about keeping direct sunlight off when possible.
