Yanmar instrument panel

Why are Yanmar parts so ridiculously expensive? Is there an after market?
I need 2 instrument panels for a 3jh4e type b keyless and the cost is close to $3000.00!

For far less than that I believe I would build my own, for much, much less. Make it out of brushed SS and LED lights

Yes, make your own. There is nothing magic about a Yanmar panel. Just get a piece of black lexan and get holes in it for the instruments that you can buy anywhere. For 3K you certainly can get the best.

1/2" black starboard would almost look original and be much more durable. Just a thought.

I have a 4JHE that I bouight from Mastryf Engine Center in St. Pete, FL. They have their own custom panel which is a lot cheaper, but they only sell over the counter or they will tell you to go to one of the distributors. I deal with www.mavex.com in Miami. check with they. think paid about $250 and it includes a tack, hour meter, four warning lights, buzzer, but no temp gauge.

Re: Yanmar instrument panel

Why are Yanmar parts so expensive? Because they practically give the engines away to the boat manufacturers. They KNOW you will need parts. They very closely control the parts business, and will keep you from buying outside your geography. It's the classic razor/razor blade business model. I love our Yanmar engine. But I hate Yanmar USA's business model.

Re: Yanmar instrument panel

Thanks for all of the advise. I just paid $ 75.00 for a thermostat! Glad to hear I can get the gauges cheaper.
