Wireless Control as Backup for Autopilot? (Raymarine)

When then control head (ST6002, p70 or what ever) for the raymarine autopilot (e.g. Smart Pilot X30) is broken, is it possible to use a wireless control (e.g. S100) as backup solution? Does the wireless control have direct access to the Smart Pilot or is it only working when the control head is working?

Should work as the s100 plugs directly into the processor not the control head.
