Thanks for all the info, learned a lot. It's 15 feet total distance so I'll go with the 10 gauge, interesting to know the macerator runs more around 4A. Less worried about draining the battery now.

Let's say your pump sucks up a continuous 6A, with occasional spikes for startup and grinding big chunks of stuff that should not have been flushed. A 15 foot run of 10 AWG will have a voltage drop of 1% at 13v. Nothing to complain about there!

Here's a crazy idea: Measure the voltage at the motor while it is running. And since overheating the conductor is not the issue but just the power available at the motor then "if it works it works."
