Winlink question

Hello,

I have not been able to fing an answer using Search.

I have used winlink for a year and it has worked perfectly (Icom 802/Pactor). But after not using it for awhile I am now having a problem. I have no problem connecting to a number of different stations, but once connected I get the message: "FBB Disconnect Received" and the connection in disconnected.

Thanks for any ideas.

Winlink for emergency comunications, but an active source for information about the system. There have been some changes and of course always occassional outages here or there.

Winlink 2000 (WL2K) has changed the way users exchange e-mail messages with the internet mail servers. Previously a user on ham radio had to link to a WL2K PMBO via Pactor on HF, packet on vhf/uhf, or to a PMBO telnet server through a Telpac Gateway/Node on packet. A user could also use a telnet client directly to a PMBO telnet server. In all cases the PMBO was an intermediate store-and-forward e-mail server between the user and the WL2K internet mail servers.

In the new system there are several internet Common Message Servers (CMS) that are accessible by the user with no intermediary store-and-forward requirement thus significantly reducing the total time required for e-mail exchanges. The new system employs Radio Mail Servers (RMS) rather than Telpac Gateways or PMBOs. Whether connecting to an RMS on packet or an RMS PACTOR on HF the user is bridged directly to one of the CMS, and the e-mail exchange takes place immediately. Users may also use telnet clients to link directly with a CMS over the internet.

Make changes now in your Airmail Internet Access module and/or Paclink Telnet Client channels and your Telpac Gateway / Node. The table below shows the old vs. the new configuration.

Delete all the PMBO telnet channels as they may not work as PMBOs move to the new RMS Pactor.

For Telpac Gateway/Node the changes are made in the SetUp tab Telnet Hosts Section. The Remote Call Sign and Local call sign are not used.
