Winlink Grib Reader

Good morning all - we have been out 12 years and been using WinLink to download weather grib files and all went well UNTIL I started looking at fax and then some reason I lost my grib reader and now it all comes via the fax side and is not user friendly and a bit more difficult to use.

I did something stupid -- how can I get my grib reader back? Do I have to take WinLink off my computer and reinstall? Any help would be nice.
thanks

Re: Winlink Grib Reader

With the caveat that I'm an inland boater and haven't played with GRIB files before, how about this as a theory:

In the past, you downloaded the GRIB files and then doubleclicked on them to open the file in the Viewer. This was because the Viewer was associated to those files via the extension (.grb?) of the GRIB file.

Next, you loaded the FAX Viewer, which inserted itself as the default viewer for those files, and now when you double-click the FAX viewer appears.

What if you:
1. Launch the GRIB viewer manually and then use its File menu to open the GRIB file?
2. Or, Right-click on the GRIB file and choose Open With (and then pick the Grib Viewer). If memory serves, you can also then make the Viewer the default.

Hope this helps,
James
