What kind of connector is this?
Anyone knows what kind of connector this is? It is on the transom of our recently bought boat and it has 12V DC in between the two pins. So one is DC +, the other is DC -, not sure what the third pin might be for.

Re: What kind of connector is this?
Third pin would be for ground, if that is relevant for the attached equipment.

Or a ground and 2 different 12v positives. Common at mast bases for lights on the mast. It allows you to run two separate circuits, say one for the anchor light and one for a steaming light. Or one for a steaming light and one for a deck light.
Don't know offhand what it would be for at the stern...hmmm...

Re: What kind of connector is this?
I had one in my cockpit that I think was for a handheld spotlight. It was the only thing on board that had the matching plug.

TREM is a brand name and they make several similar connectors with different numbers of pins as well as different diameters. That looks like their 3-pin ""Waterproof socket 10 Amp (42mm)" or ""Waterproof socket 5 Amp (38mm)"

Re: What kind of connector is this?
We have two on our boat, one for the windlass remote (probably not the OP’s on the transom), the other to connect some removable solar (a chance for that). Our windlass takes four pins, the solar only two, but it has a three-pin like the OP, probably because that was what the chandler had.
On the transom, maybe a tiller pilot that drives a windvane aux. rudder? Or an anchor light that gets hung on the backstay?
