Vesper AIS to Raymarine C80 via NEMA 2000?

Hello,

I'm trying to help a friend install a Vesper XB-8000 AIS on his boat which has a Raymarine C80 Classic MFD. He would prefer to run a NMEA 2000 backbone rather than NEMA 0183 cables for future proofing, but there is conflicting information on the internet regarding whether the C80 can accept AIS data over NEMA 2000/Seatalk2.

Has anyone here actually done this, or tried and failed?

Thanks,
Aedan
