Updates for Navionics vx2 SD card

I have a Furuno navnet chartplotter, using Navionics Gold VX SDcsrds. Its about 12 years old. Is this format even possible to update? The Navionics site implies that it is possible, but indicates a 2Gig card is required for download only that may not be compatible with older units. Also, updates appear to be offered on a subscription basis, hinting that after a year your chart screen could go dark.

Yes, updates are subscription only. No, your screen does not "go dark" when you subscription expires, you just can’t update anymore.

You need to contact navionics tech support for the tech details on updating a card for a system that old.

The VX2 will have no problem running the latest Navionics.

In the next few years everything will become a subscription service. No more large payments but constant payments instead.
