Up-grade to Class B AIS

AIS questions. We have a 2007 L40. Years ago we upgraded to a Raymarine e-80 and Raymarine radar, installed by Just Catamarans. Has been working just fine. Great job. This last year the e-80 went bad, got a replacement on ebay...works fine. A couple of years ago we replaced our 2nd bad Raymarine VHF but replaced it with the Standard Horizon GX2150 with built in AIS receive only. Has worked great. All wired 183.

Now...we are in Fiji and getting ready to go on to Malaysia, Singapore and maybe Thiland...AIS B is mandatory. So, how to go about it? Black box on the side? Can you still wire 183 into e-80? What brands/models? How to drop Standard Horizon out of the loop and consequences? Stand alone unit? Built in GPS? Antenna splitter?

Any ideas, help, suggestions and knowledge welcomed. Thanks group.

Re: Up-grade to Class B AIS

I have a Comar csb-200class b transponder it is interfaced with a Standard Horizon cp500. I also have a cp300 wired into a GX2150, it doesn't show the signal from the Comar. Both units have the same mmsi number so the 2150 ignores the Comar. I have a dedicated antenna for each, I also have a 2nd 2150 at the lower helm with a cp590 and it also ignores the Comar, all the data is shared via 0183 including radar on the two 12" mfd screens. Hope this is some help.
