Twin Helms, One Chartplotter?

If you have two helms, as do some monohulls and quite a few catamarans, where do you put your chartplotter?

Any clever ways to make it quickly and easily relocatable (I can imagine one)?

Do you have a second chartplotter on the other helm, perhaps a smaller one?

Or what?

It's in the middle between the two wheels and swivels.

Chartplotter on our flybridge, laptop at the lower helm running OpenCPN and using a hand held Garmin for GPS on the laptop. Chuck

Re: Twin Helms, one chartplotter?

rgesner,
Although I've made my living in electronics for > 30 years, I'm not one that wants to clutter my helm, nor cockpit, with too much electronics....but I have my 12" Raymarine E-120 mounted at the cockpit table, between and just slightly forward of the dual helms...(and my ST-60+ instruments forward of that....and dual ST-6002+ autopilot control heads, one at each helm, as having autopilot control within easy reach is important..)
Please have a look at the photos in the links....

FYI, even though I do have a full suite of modern electronics (and redundant/back-ups), I use paper charts as my primary charting...so, those that have their heads behind a screen more often may have different desires, but friends with sisterships (with same chartplotter locations) that are "fully electronic sailors" find this works well for them as well...

I hope this helps...

Fair winds...

Garmin GPSMAP 620 with 2 docking stations, and a docking station in my car for road navigation. I love this toy.

Link: This marine chartplotter pulls double duty with an automotive mode that's ready to go...

I have two, networked together. One on each helm. Networking them allows them to share the antenna, depth sounder, chart cards and saved user data.
