Trying to buy this battery

Hi, This battery....I am hoping the attachment worked....if not....SBR-23LI 1850mAh, made by Yaesu Musen. It is in my 9 month old Standard Horizon HX 40 and their tech support concurs with me that the battery is defective. It has a three year warranty but with being in Grenada it would be so much easier if I could buy a battery for a reasonable cost rather than shipping to California and dealing with Customs regarding warranty work.

Problem is I cannot find it online to buy, Standard Horizon says they won’t ship me one or sell me one. So I am hoping one of you Google experts can find a source for this battery, a task I have failed at.

It is simple to replace, just a plug in connector and I don’t care if this cancels my warranty.

I'm in the same spot. Did you ever find a source?

Re: Trying to buy this battery

I'm also in the same boat. Seems like a common issue with the HX40. My interaction with customer support only confirmed my critiques of their engineering, which is total ****. They also told me the battery is not user-serviceable. Any monkey with a screw driver can remove it in two seconds. This kind of ******** "dealer-only" service has absolutely no place in the marine industry. Especially on something in such daily use as a VHF.

Rant over, I digress. If anyone knows how to source this battery please comment here.

Re: Trying to buy this battery

For accuracy, I want to clarify that the above battery is not the SBR-23LI that we are looking for. Thank you, Sagablu for looking.

Re: Trying to buy this battery

2021 and in the same leaky boat as those before me. Dead battery, under 2 years old. California service won't send a replacement outside the USA so effectively a disposable $120 vhf POS. My Standard Horizon HX890, top of the line unit, turned itself on last year's and sent a DSC alert. I awoke to local police at my door saying the marine department was trying to find my boat. Nice ..GPS failed so they were triangulating the position, racing around all morning trying to find a sinking boat. Standard Horizon unapologetic. They "fixed" it and sent it back still without GPS working. I will never by a non GMDSS compliant vhf again...these are crap toys and should not be relied upon as anything else.

Re: Trying to buy this battery

I found a source in Cypress but they have to insert the battery.https://www.telectronicsit.com/product-page/sbr-23li-standard-horizon
I have no idea why because as someone said earlier, any monkey with a screwdriver can do it.
It is pretty obvious to me that the turnaround time plus cost of shipping, battery, and service makes a new radio a better deal. For me it certainly will not be Standard Horizon.
