I also have a SH plotter a cp300i, it works great & SH customer service has been very helpful when needed for my radar installation. The tech may of had a bad day or was just a a$$hole. I've found that SH has one of the best warranties in marine electronics, 3 years & flat rate repair cost for the original buyer. I wouldn't write them off because of a bad experience with one tech, I plan on buying a larger unit & move the cp300i to the lower helm, I wouldn't do that if SH products or service had been problematic. Good Luck

Re: The hard way to get a new chartplotter

This chapter just came to a close today, I think/hope. Bought April 26. Recieved after repair: Nov 9. Tested on boat Nov 10. Unfortunately there were wet snow flurries in the air, so the season is over.

I'm glad they have a 3 year warranty because that means i have 2 seasons left. (btw, They didn't respond to the suggestion that they might extend it for a season, in order to match reasonable expectations that i had when i bought it. I hope the device is reliable, as i really hope i don't have to deal with any of these organizations again.

oh and by the way, when i first turned on the chartplotter, it made me read a window that said "your built in charts are out of date and may be dangerous to use". I thought that was hilarious.
