Test Chart Plotter/GPS without power cable? Direct connect to 12 volt battery?

Greetings,

My old Raymarine Dragonfly 4 has no power cable, and I would like to test the unit before investing in a new cable. Can a 12 volt bare wire cable be used to test the unit without frying it?

The Dragonfly power input has a 10 pin connector, basically 4 on each side and 2 in the center. Can the 12 volt wires from the battery, pos and neg, be connected to two of the pins (center pins?) to test the system?

Many thanks for your input.

yes but you need to know which pins are which. which unless you have the cable is hard to know. if you hook power up backwards you might fry it.
