Our Tacktick gives accurate (with exceptions: below) results up to about 60-90m, beyond which it flashes no result (ie too deep).
Sometimes we get clearly erroneous results: e.g., 2m when in very deep
water. We have another older brand of
depth installed, and we check/compare and they both give the same result in this situation. So real and likely related to sealife (fish, plankton, or even weed) prevalent in BC waters.
So no, we haven't had your issues.
