Tablet Holder
Would anyone have a recommendation for a stout tablet holder?
Preferably with an articulating arm. This would be to mount to the side of the helm; primarily for Aqua Map with the Army Corps overlays.
There is a separate chart plotter.
I have had problems using a tablet and looking down at it only to look up to find I am aiming dead center at a channel marker.
The tablet need to be mounted so it is viewed at eye level. Preferrably mechanically mounted to the dash off to the side.
Many thanks
TW

Re: Tablet Holder
I use RAM mount on the binnacle to hold my ipad in it's water proof case.
It has been flawless for the past 8 years. It's the only thing I use.

Re: Tablet Holder
I use a Hercules Ipad holder (DG307B). Musicians and Buskers use them. It is stout and secure. Soft plastic and padded fittings prevent scratches or damage to your device. Securely holds your device (strong springs on 4 clamps to grip your device). Articulates to almost any angle and orientation. Adjusts easily, yet doesn't slip or require re-tightening. You can insert your device and remove it in 2 seconds, yet grips extremely well -- accidentally hitting it or bumping into it does not knock your device out of the holder.
Highly recommend it.

Ditto on the RAM mount, I use 2 iPads in the cockpit, adjustable, functional, waterproof and use mine in shore and off shore, I suggest wiring a recharge station at the binnacle. Flawless for 7 years. I have 4 different nav programs and prefer different ones depending on where I’m at. Only thing I use in the cockpit. I also have a solid state laptop at the nav station running open cpn. Very handy when you single hand like I do, it’s especially effective at night after setting up different types of guard zones.

Re: Tablet Holder
I went for a cheaper option, about $20. It mounts easily, pretty stable and holds position. But is easy to move to a new location. Like on the table to watch a movie.
Plus there are no screws or holes as a bonus

Good point I left out, if you have a binnacle arch, the RAM mount clamps to it, no drilling either.

Yep, I've got two RAM mounts that are designed to clamp onto rails/tubing. I actually use one to clamp onto the edge of a perspex sheet (trailing edge of a RIB windscreen) to hold a mobile phone. Screwed down tight, it is very secure.

Re: Tablet Holder
I just picked up an onstage 1500 - it’s designed for a mic stand, but the clamp can handle just about any tubing. All plastic, so no rust. The little grabbers might not work out with a really thick case, but easily returned, and only $30….
