T120 in Chicago winter

Does anybody have a Raymarine T120 wireless masthead wind-transducer in a cold-weather environment like Chicago? We left ours on the masthead over the winter and in the spring it wasn't working. Raymarine support generously replaced it and now I'm wondering if we have to take it down at the end of every season?
