t-Mobile v. Google Project Fi-- which one works best

I do not know if someone posted this already, but T-Mobile stops your account if you're overseas for more than 3 months. You want to ask about this because it's in the fine print.

I had T-Mobile and switched to GoogleFi for the above reason. I need my USA number to work. So far, so good.

If I need a lot of data, I can buy one, or two, local SIM cards and use them on my on-board GSM router.

I can also use a second SIM card on my phone (non-USA phones have dual-SIM models). This way one phone can have two numbers. I have a USA number and a local number. I can select which SIM to use for data or calls. I'm currently using a dual-SIM Samsung Note 8.
