Perhaps because very few of us will ever sail to Tonga. I have used Garmin GPS up and down the US east coast and to the Bahamas and found them to be perfectly accurate. Reports from others that have cruised all over the West Indies are the same.

It's not just coastal US. BlueChart with Explorer for Bahamas is included.

Re: Super deal on Garmin GPS

I've bought at least 8 Garmin GPS devices and, now I outfitted my new boat with Lowrance equipment. I've had it with Garmin's corporate pigeon holing. They're geared to squeezing every nickel they can out of their customers, using every corporate gimmick that they can come up with. Their shenanigans have left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. Just sayin'. I'm not saying Garmin doesn't make excellent products.I just hate when they stop supporting perfectly good products just like Apple recently admitted to.Building in obsolescence and degrading you products through their satellite connection some how. I get messages on one of my 15 year old (touch screen) GPS's telling me that there's new firmware to update my GPS plus Blue tooth updating via downloading! Now how do they do that wirelessly ?
