Standard Horizon 870

Gday

I am thinking of a man overboard system using DSC radios. Has anyone used the position sharing function of the handheld Standard Horizon as a man overboard beacon. I was thinking it could be shared with the mothership's radio. Does this seem plausible?

I thought it would be a better spend than a separate beacon as the VHF could be used for voice communication as well as position sharing.

cheers

Phil
