Buy the book "Marine SSB radio for Idi-yachts" Tons of great information in it. Also you can send in for a free CD that has a good list of stations and broadcast times as well as cruising nets.

I'm in a marina and can get WLO out of Alabama and have gotten some weather from Guam and Mexico. I've been able to receive weather and have been heard transmitting but cannot receive from other boats, probably due to all the interference.
