Hi everyone,
I have been writing
software called Ham
Radio Integrator (HRI) to control Amateur
Radio equipment and recently added support for
ICOM Marine Radios.
RichardHula from the UK helped by testing the
software on his
Icom M802 many times - until all the problems were worked out.
Some of HRI's control features:
1. Its primary purpose is to inform all other computer controllable
equipment of radio frequency changes - this probably is far more useful for amateurs/hams rather than for
boating people.
2. Controls the few
antenna tuners which are computer controllable - the Palstar ATAUTO, and LDG AT200PC.
3. Controls the LDG DTS4/DTS6 coax
antenna switches
4. Controls the Expert 1KFA amplifier
5. Controls the CK1610 relay box - which hooks up to a COM port for control.
6. Turns ON/OFF
REMOTE mode
7. Turns ON/OFF M802 radio.
HRI will probably make the ICOM
Marine radios easier to use on the Amateur Bands. Controls for the ICOM Marine Radios are:
1. Frequency - RX and TX changes together, or RX and TX changed separately.
2. NB -
Noise Blanker ON/OFF
3. AGC
4. SQL Control
5. Speaker
6. Dimmer
7. Tuner Control - OFF, ON, Tune Now
8. Audio Volume
9. Three TX
Power Levels
10. Ten RF Gain Levels
11. Can select the Mode (for example USB/J3E, CW/A1A, etc)
12. Displays: SQL Status, S Meter,
Power Meter, ANTC Meter)
Some of its s/w features:
1. Allows easy changes to the ICOM Marine radio's RX and TX frequency (by selecting VFOA) and changes to only the TX frequency (by selecting VFOB)
2. Has thousands of frequency memories organized into banks.
3. One memory bank has the ICOM Marine frequencies
4. One memory bank is for Short Wave (SWL) with the frequency list selectable from the EiBi database.
5. Can look up US Amateur callsigns (though you must first download a file from the FCC's website)
HRI is available for free for personal use. It is available in the FILES section of the N3ZH_Software Yahoo group. There is also a
documentation file there explaining its setup and use.
HRI is written in Java, so one needs to go to
java.com: Java + You and download & install the latest Java Runtime
Environment (JRE).
Enjoy,
Howard
