Re: So I Am Buying an iPad, Which One?

We're heavily vested in the iOS technology. We have an iPhone 5, 4th Gen standard and the Mini on the helm backing up the Raymarine plotter. Hands down iOS is the future and the way to go with all the apps being created. At the nav-station we have another iPhone 5, 3rd Gen standard with a new 128g pre-ordered, a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air all running solid state hd, (no moving parts) with incredible battery time on all devices. Oh, and wired for 12v. May not work for everyone but exceeds all of our needs.

Tssssk !! Use AirPlay from iPad to AppleTV and eliminate the cables

which brings me to the missing TimeCapsule for the wifi AP + big disk for the wireless TimeMachine backups

How do you like the MacBook Air?

I have to agree with you MarkJ.

The Ipad is a very useful adjunt, convenient tool and backup system but does not elimate your real computer. Possibly all a day sailor rather than a long distance cruiser needs.

Bash

Let us know when you eliminate your real computer and then we might consider your comment has some merit rather than just stirring.

I took a chance with the old WIN vs Apple banter when i posted and didn't want to press my luck. Yes, we use the 3 TB (wish it was SS) TimeCapsule for wifi and back ups, movie and music storage. We have the 13" 256g Air and love it. For personal use and for Mystique, the stuff just works and works every time.
