Slingbox TV - Anyone Tried it?

We watch next to no TV while onboard.

However, it would be nice when we have that critical ballgame to watch (the Admiral is a PE teacher, and a college football NUT), that we can watch onboard. Last season we found ourselves going to a bar instead - and that's much more expensive!

One thing that hasn't been mentionned is that to use a slingbox, you someplace ashore that has some form of high speed internet access and a network. The slingbox connects directly to the router.

If you live on your boat and do not have a place ashore, you need a friend with a slingbox who will allow you to tap into his or her network.

Yes, we live on our boat on the weekends. Have cable at home.

Right, on shore at the signal source it connects to a router, but on the boat all you need is a computer with a wifi connection. It's software driven. They do have a box that can run independently of the computer, but the software version is much easier and can work anywhere.
