Transducer mounting location?
I have a
leopard 39 cat (37ft). As an avid diver i am looking at installing a
garmin echomap 95sv with a side scan
transducer for wreck and dive site mapping. The
Garmin and side scan is separate from the main
boat navigational
equipment. I have
raymarine depth, chart plotter and auto pilot for sailing. The question I have is
where to mount the transducer?
Forward of the
keel i dont have good access on the inside of the
hull. Beside the
keel I have access but would loose one side of the scan as the keel would be in the way which would mean having two transducers with one on each keel (expensive + an extra hole in a keel)
What looks like the best position would be directly (about a foot) behind the keel and before the sail drive. Has anybody done this or something similar? does anyone foresee problems with this location?
any input appreciated.
