SH2400 AIS to WIFI

Hi Friends
Here's the situation
Buddy of mine has a Standard Horizon 2400 radio,
Would like to send it's AIS info to Ipad's via WIFI.
There are many devices out there that purport to do this
I have put together the following list

Digital Yacht WLN10 Smart
Comar i320W WIFI Interface
Yacht Devices YDWG-02 WIFI Gateway
Actisense W2K-1 WIFI Gateway
Yakker NMEA to WIFI Bridge

I'm looking for specific feedback as to what will work
I understand that there are a few issues with the SH2400 and
it's implementation of NMEA 2000 (threads on this forum)
so not opposed to hard wiring 0183 to a box

I prefer a VESPER 8000, I know they work and have used then
extensively, but not my dollars to spend and the 2400 is on the
boat. Not interested in tx. The programs used are INAVX and TZiBoat

Cheers
Neil

Re: SH2400 AIS to WIFI

INavX and virtually all tablet nav systems can use data in 0183 format and cannot use data from NMEA2000. So much more straightforward to use the 0183 output of the radio.

Any of the listed devices should work (but you should read the manuals before buying), but the Yacht Devices and Actisense ones are connected by N2K with conversion to 0183 which is an unnecessary faff when you can connect directly to 0183 with one of the other devices.

Re: SH2400 AIS to WIFI

Thanks Dockhead
After an email exchange with the crew at
Actisense We went with one of their units
The W2K 1
It will be a few weeks before we get and install
it but I’ll post a short review
Cheers
