SeaTalk to NMEA through USB

Hi all,

I have Raymarine ST60 instruments and I wanted to be able to see their data at the nav table. My first instinct was to get a repeater, but the sticker shock drove me straight to the internet in search for an affordable alternative.

Through some forum--maybe this one, I'm not sure--I learned about YAPP Electronics. John builds a very affordable SeaTalk to NMEA interface box that connects to a computer through USB. He's quick to respond to questions, even though he builds this device in his spare time.

Once you have the data on USB, the sky's the limit. I use OpenCPN, NavMonPC and various iOS and Android apps to see the data from the Raymarine instruments.

Do you have your computer connected to your instruments? If so, what do you use to look at the data?

Re: SeaTalk to NMEA through USB

Bonjour Enovillo,

I have ST60 equipment as well and faced the same issue a few years ago.
I acquired a Miniplex -2USB NMEA Multiplexer with Seatalk conversion and AIS support from STENTEC.
It accepts NMEA 183 (AIS form my VHF radio) and Seatalk inputs and connects to a PV via USB. I am using it with OpenCPN with no problem. Great device.
Price was around $250.
There are probably other devices today.
