I completed a roundtrip from Neah Bay, Washington
State to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
May-July 2016 and used the SEA 2250 SSB radio
for daily position reports to the Pacific Seafarers net 14.300 Mhz and obtain NOAA weather
faxes. Before I left I was unsure how well the radio would work
as local testing was not very positive on transmissions...reception were good. I had taken the radio to the manufacturer (SEA Comm Corp, 7030 220th St. SW Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043) for service
and was given a thumbs up on its working. I had been told by others that SSB would work
but was dubious.
the radio worked GREAT. With every transmission
I asked how my transmission
was being received and was told that my SSB transmission were the best they had received.
By the way I was using a KISS-SSB ground plane system counterpoise
and I'm sold on it.
