Re: sat phones

Even though it's expensive to use, we like our Iridium. It was especially convenient when crossing from Mexico to French Polynesia and connecting with Sail Mail or Winlink was sporadic. There was also a small degree of comfort knowing that in the event of a catastrophe, we could take with us should we need to abandoned ship.

Fair winds and calm seas.

Re: sat phones

We liked our Iridium phone. I used it once a month to pay my bills by cash transfer. Occasionally I used it on passage. It worked great, and for emergency back up, it was worth having on board.

Re: sat phones

Globalstar is not too good in the South Pacific. Australia is OK but that's it.
