Sat phone use in Sea of Cortez

I plan to use a Qualcomm 1600 GSP to receive voice messages only. Has anyone used this phone or any other using Globalstar in this area. I have heard that receiving voicemail may take several tries over say, a half hour but should still be fine for voice mails.
Will get the Delorme Inreach if there is much doubt.
I will be in the central part of the SoC sometime between October to February.
